I’m Marcel Votlucka, a language services consultant and translator with nearly two decades of experience in multilingual communication and localization.

I grew up in Queens, New York, one of the most linguistically and culturally diverse places in the world, which sparked my early interest in languages and cross-cultural communication. That interest developed into a career in journalism and eventually the localization industry, where I began on the operational side as a project manager for translation companies, and oversaw thousands of projects across finance, legal, and commercial sectors.

My independent streak eventually took over, and I decided to expand into freelance translation and consulting, combining hands-on linguistic work with a broader perspective on how to support effective, reliable multilingual communication. Today, I work independently with language service providers, businesses, and nonprofits, helping them navigate complex language needs with clarity, consistency, and confidence.

Indeed, you could say that “language is my life”, but when I’m not translating or consulting, I enjoy cooking, the great outdoors, aerial silks and yoga, and I traveling and backpacking all over the world. This gives me the chance to learn from other people and cultures – and picking up bits and pieces of other languages!
